2015 SWASAP Scholarship - NOW OPEN

Pre-Collegiate Application Guidelines (Deadline for Receipt: July 1, 2015)

The Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs (SWASAP) scholarship committee announces the 2015 SWASAP Scholarship Competition for Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Upward Bound Math/Science. Each project may submit only five (5) applications and shall establish its own criteria for determining which five applications are forwarded to the Scholarship Committee. Program Directors should submit the selected applications in PDF format to the SWASAP scholarship chair no later than 5pm on July 1, 2015

2015 AASAP Scholarships


DEADLINE: June 15, 2015

Only one application per applicant will be considered. If you're eligible, you may apply for all three scholarships in one form submission. Only the most recent application will be considered.

• Applicant must be a past or current TRIO participant

• Applicant must be an enrolled college student during Fall 2015 (enrollment verification required in Fall semester)

• Applicant must be nominated by an AASAP member

Required Supplemental Materials

• Statement from nominating AASAP member verifying your TRIO status

• A one-page typed personal statement discussing your educational goals/plans, including how TRIO has affected those goals, and how you anticipate a college education will advance your life

• Transcript from current institution and any transfer transcripts (unofficial transcripts will be accepted, as long as the institution name is visible)

• Additional required materials for individual scholarships outlined below

Recommendations must be completed at: (verification via email will be conducted) Applicants are responsible for requesting recommendations and sharing the link to the online form.

Send all supplemental materials to: Incomplete applications will not be considered. Committee members will not follow-up with applicants with incomplete applications. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email and a check will be presented at the AASAP Conference in October or provided by SWASAP following their conference in November.


Required Supplemental Materials

• Two letters of recommendation (one must be from an AASAP member)


Odd-numbered years: 2015 (Current year)

• Applicant must be a graduating senior planning to enter college in any field

• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale on her/his most current transcript

Required Supplemental Materials • Three letters of recommendation (one may be from a TRIO staff member)


• Individual must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale on most recent transcript (high school or college, whichever is most recent)

• Individual must have an ACT Composite of 20 or better (also acceptable: equivalent SAT score; ASSET scores of 43 Intermediate Algebra, 42 Language Usage, 41 Reading; or COMPASS scores of 66 Intermediate Algebra, 70 Language Usage, 81 Reading)

Required Supplemental Materials

• Three letters of recommendation (one may be from a TRIO staff member)

• ACT, SAT, ASSET, or COMPASS score report(s)

• A high school and/or GED transcript with GPA* and graduation date *Non-traditional students may submit most recent educational transcript
